Alcester Choir gets set to stage annual “taster” recruitment evening
One of the regions best known and most popular choirs the Alcester Male Voice choir will be staging their annual recruitment evening on Wednesday 9th September in The Jubilee Centre, St Faiths Road, Alcester starting at 7.30pm.
Judith Land, BEM, FRSA choir founder and Director of Music explains ” Although gentlemen can join the choir at anytime of the year this annual event gives potential singers an opportunity to come along and meet existing choristers and to be able get an insight as to what goes on behind the scenes of such a large and successful choir.
The choir is made up of gentlemen of all abilities, but they have one thing in common in that they all enjoy singing. The evening will be very relaxed and very informal and our aim is to offer potential new members a taster of what our choir is about, the songs we sing and the comradeship we all enjoy. There are no auditions, and no pressure to join but for those that do join all we ask is that they commit to the weekly rehearsal evenings which are held on Wednesday evenings, in Alcester, and when they feel confident to take part in the regular concerts, usually one per month, that we put on on behalf of various charities and organisations to help with their fund raising . Our members have had some wonderful experiences as in addition to the regular concerts we have over the last eighteen months appeared at Symphony Hall Birmingham. Royal Albert Hall and recently we sang in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. Next April we shall be returning to The Town Hall in Birmingham for our 42nd annual concert.”
