Alcester Choir aims high for annual open evening of singing
This well known and popular Alcester Male Voice Choir is aiming high when it holds its annual open evening on Wednesday 10th September 7.30pm, at The Jubilee Centre in St Faiths Road, Alcester. This is the evening when the choir invites men interested in singing to go along and find out what it’s all about.
The choir has had a very special year with the celebration of its 40th anniversary, and in the New Years honours list its founder and Director of Music, Judith Land was awarded the British Empire Medal.. As the special year draws to a close the choir would like to see if the membership could reach 100 men.
Judith explains “we always do well at our recruitment evening, we are a large, busy and successful choir with an excellent reputation both locally and further afield. Our membership stands at just over 80, with members drawn from all over the area and all walks of life. I have always hoped to achieve a membership of 100 and if we could achieve that this September then it would make this special year complete. We are a community choir and as such there is no audition process, all I ask is that members commit to the weekly rehearsals which are held on Wednesday evenings and when they feel ready take part, in our concerts which are held throughout the year, on average once a month when we help various charities and organisations raise much needed funds. I encourage gentlemen interested to come along for a few taster evenings and experience singing a variety of songs, the camaraderie and the ambience of our rehearsals. One gentlemen came along recently and by the end of the evening he felt compelled to join us that evening as this was the sort of choir and music he had been looking for”..
Gentlemen interested in attending the open evening should contact the conductor, Judith Land on 07886 139781 or email her on firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
