Fisher House Project fund raising total April 2016

Charity Bonus after local choirs successful sell out concert

There was an added dimension during and after the Alcester Male Voice Choirs highly successful Gala Concert, held at the Town Hall, Birmingham, last week. The choir which sang to a packed audience of some 800, staged their concert in support of the Queen Elizabeth Hospitals Fisher House Project. Fisher House offers home from Home comforts for injured servicemen and women and there families during their stay in Birmingham and helps the soldiers rehabilitation process before they return home or go on for further treatment. During the concert Michael Tivy from The Queen Elizabeth Hospital introduced the Fisher House project before handing over to ex soldier and triple amputee Dave Watson who told the audience how he had been seriously injured in Afghanistan and what Fisher House and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital had done for him. Following an emotional standing ovation Judith Land, BEM Founder and Director of Music of the Alcester Male Voice Choir presented a cheque from the choir for £1000. There was also a retiring bucket collection for the charity which raised an additional £2400. Judith commented, “it was a wonderful night, the choir exceeded all my expectations it was a brilliant performance, we were also delighted to help Fisher House and I cant thank the audience enough for their generosity, the amount raised from the bucket collection was simply staggering”
