Choirs annual concert to reflect tours both home and abroad

The Alcester Male Voice Choir’s Annual concert is set to return home to Alcester this year following the sell out success of the event last year at Birminghams Town Hall.

This, the 43rd Annual concert will be held at Alcester Academy on Saturday 8th April, but there will be a theme running through the performance which reflects the highly successful tours the choir has made, both home and abroad since the choir was formed. Choir founder and Director of Music, Judith Land BEM explained ” it is well known that we hold regular concerts to raise funds for various charities and organisations. What may not be so well known is that we have also toured extensively both in this country and in mainland Europe, and only last September visited Belgium where we had the honour and privilege of singing at the last post ceremony at the Menin Gate in Ypres. For this concert I wanted the overall performance to reflect this part of the choirs history. As usual the 80 strong choir will be performing a wide variety of songs which will include For the beauty of the Earth, O’l Man River, She and Abide with me. Joining the choir on stage will be the popular duo Slater & Mcbride whose contrasting musical style will complement the choirs performance. The duo will be playing traditional Klezmer, Parisian, German, French, Belgian, Austrian and British music on the Accordion and Saxophone which relate to the experiences the choir has had on tour. ”

Tickets cost £12.50 and are available from the choirs concert secretary on 078603 79668 a glass of wine and nibbles is included and will be supplied by the Alcester – Vallet Twinning Association
